Reactor identification and evaluation of Brucella abortus vaccination results for cattle in Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia
Background: One of the diseases that interfere with reproductive performance is brucellosis, thus causing economic losses. Aim: This study aims to identify reactors and evaluate the results of Brucella abortus vaccination in Malaka Regency. Methods: This research method includes the first stage, namely sampling in the form of a serum of 100 cows. Serum specimens come from blood taken from the jugular vein or coccygeal vein with a vacutainer tube containing silicone, then left at room temperature until separated (serum with cloth). Then, for serological tests in the form of RBT tests, if the RBT test is positive, it is followed by the CFT test; if the CFT test is positive, it is determined as a brucellosis reactor, while if CFT is positive in vaccinated cattle, vaccination is declared victorious and if it is negative, vaccination needs to be evaluated. Results: The results of 100 samples showed that the RBT and CFT tests obtained two results, namely positive RBT and the CFT test negative, so no Brucella abortus reactor was found. Conclusion: Cattles in Malacca Regency were not found with Brucella abortus reactor. The results of vaccination against brucella are not optimal, which is indicated by the absence of an antibody response formed based on RBT and CFT tests. Published by Eldaghayes Publisher.
